GradSlam entry video
In early 2016, the following announcement from the Berkeley Graduate Division caught my eye:
“Are you a doctoral or master’s student engaged in interesting research? Would you like to hone your presentation skills to better explain your work? The first step in the multi-phase competition is to submit your three-minute video, using the Grad Slam guidelines. Do not worry about video quality or editing as you are being judged on your audience engagement and presentation skills, as well as the intellectual curiosity inspired by your research.”
The wheels in my brain started working on a creative approach to share my research. The whole process of drafting a script that would be under 3 minutes was exciting mainly because it forced me to pause, focus and extract the highlights of my research. I decided to combine two of my strengths for science: storytelling and cartooning!
