About me
I am Aparna Krishnamoorthy, a biochemist with experience in cellular, molecular and metabolic biology, currently living in Alameda, California. I obtained my PhD from UC Berkeley where I focused on using protein and lipid based biochemical assays to understand cellular pathways underlying human diseases. I am driven by a desire to improve human health through significant scientific contributions. Over the course of the past decade, I worked on understanding the interplay of genetics, diet and the environment in models of kidney injury, stem cell differentiation and cancer progression; and I look forward to continue making an impact in the field of biological sciences. While part of my brain is occupied with researching, testing and troubleshooting scientific hypotheses, another part of me is involved in the arts. Making artwork has been a big part of my life and is my meditation to streamline through muddled thoughts. When I am not making any scientific breakthroughs in the lab or doodling about the everyday things that surrounds me, I have been learning an Indian classical dance called Odissi (since 2012) in Berkeley, California. I have created this space as a way to populate my professional and arts-related accomplishments. Welcome and take a look around the inner workings of my brain.
On a side note, I can now confidently say “I have been on the grandest adventure of my life”. More info on that at: www.lifebycycle.info
