Kalyan Pallavi – Purab Festival, Cupertino, CA, September 2024

This was a wonderful and cherished re-bonding experience with the one and only Gireeja Ranade. From being housemates during my early days of learning Odissi, rehearsing as part of many group performances and now as moms to young ones, an opportunity to perform a duet arose and we snatched it. We were under a strict performance piece time limit (under 10 minutes long), so we settled on performing Kalyan Pallavi and vowed to make the most of this sweet, tried and tested item. We worked on introducing some movement and choreography (at least to the extent we were comfortable) and chiseled out time to get together. The final performance day venue was outdoors, well organized and overall a wonderful treat.
